ABOUT US

Since the early 1960’s the Youngtown Community Fund Inc. has loaned durable medical equipment to area residents for

short term use. This includes such things as walkers, canes, crutches, equipment for bathing in the tub or shower, items to assist at the commode, assist rails for tub and bed and wheel chairs.

Many people live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to purchase the needed equipment especially when it is for recovering from an accident or surgery and then no longer needed.

People like Mary who fell and broke her femur. She needed several pieces of equipment including a wheelchair, a toilet riser and shower chair. She didn't have the money to go out and buy everything needed. Fortunately, she heard about the Medical Equipment lending Center and joined the 337 people who were able to borrow equipment between January 1 2023 and June 30, 2023 and saved $73,063.

We operate with a very small staff and donations from those we assist and from individuals who appreciate the service that is provided.  Currently volunteers are needed for such things as repairing broken equipment, distributing literature, cleaning and sanitizing returned equipment and other things that arise.  If you should receive a letter or encounter one of the volunteers looking for a donation, please take time to consider that you may be the next person who has an accident or unexpected surgery and needs the service of the Medical Lending Center.  The Youngtown Community Fund is a 501C-3 Non-Profit Organization so any donation is tax deductible. Also, donations qualify for the Arizona State Tax credit.
